Company Drivers Pay Structure and Calculations

1. Types of Compensation

Flatbed drivers at GHI can be compensated through per-mile rates or hourly wages. As a company driver, you also receive company benefits.

Here’s a breakdown of the types of base pay:

  • Per Mile: Drivers earn pay based on cents per mile (CPM), both loaded and empty.
    • Miles x CPM = CPM earned.
    • Mostly Regional routes.
  • Hourly Pay: Hourly pay is just what it sounds like. Drivers are paid a rate by the hour.
    • Rate x Hours = Hourly Pay earned.
    • Usually local, home daily routes.
    • Overtime after 40 hours.

GHI Recruiters can walk through the open positions in your area and review the pay, home time, and territory.

2. Typical Salary Range

GHI Company Drivers Weekly Range: $1,200 – $1,600+ per week.

Company Drivers (top earners): $1,900
Company Drivers (average drivers): $1,400

Owner Operator Pay Structure and Calculations

1. Types of Compensation

Independent Contractors receive percentage pay. As an Owner Op, taxes will not be taken out of your settlements. Because you’re operating as an independent contractor, most of your expenses on the road are considered business expenses. These can be written off on your taxes each year.

Our Independent Contractors are home on weekends and enjoy steady year-round work, incentives for referrals, fuel discounts, and the ability to stick to the Northeast Region. Drivers are settled on a percentage pay basis at 70 percent, so drivers receive 70 percent of every load.

2. Typical Salary Range

Now that you know the types of compensation available, you might be curious about the range of pay GHI Independent Contractors can earn per week.

Owner Operators: $3,000 – $8,000+ per week, earning 70% of every load.

Owner Operators (top earners): $10,000
Owner Operators (average drivers): $5,000

  • Stop and Detention Pay: Get compensated for extended waiting times at loading or unloading docks.
